“The Big Tank” is called Passive Containment Cooling Water Storage Tank (PCCWST), which is designed to ensure the safety of nuclear power plant and as Seism-I. PCCWST lies on the top of Containment Vessel and is combined with Shield Complex (see the attached picture below). The interior walls of PCCWST use stainless steel plates and all the welds among SS plates have been inspected for its sealing. Leakage inspection channel have also been set up.
Reviewed and approved by NRC, the seismic margin analysis shows that with 95% of confidence level and 95% of non-damaged status, the PCCWST can stand the peak value of earthquake acceleration of 0.63g.
